Mix 2008

March 7th, 2008

macpcI am watching a great video of Guy Kawasaki and Steve Ballmer from Mix 08. These guys are pretty funny and veterans of the OS Wars. Listening to Steve Ballmer reminds me of being in a meeting across from a guy who really irritates you — then you get doubly irritated because you know he always ends up on top!

There is a pretty good back-and-forth around Silverlight just shy of 25:00 that is interesting not because of Silverlight, but because of the approach Ballmer describes of fat web/thin client play that should provide improved platforms for application development. This is critical for administrative systems wonks like me (’productivity software’ Ballmer keeps calling it) as we are always interested in getting heavy lifting applications to users via the web.
